In the highly competitive scrap industry, downtime of equipment directly impacts an organization’s bottom line.
For a project involving replacement of a shredder, Kelley Construction was tasked with the challenge of removing and replacing the existing shredder; rebuilding the adjacent building that houses all electrical, hydraulic and motor control systems; and rebuilding the downstream system that sorts the material produced by the shredder, all within a 30-day time frame. This tight deadline required around-the-clock crews, sometimes upward of 125 workers within the 4,800 sq. ft. site in a given 24-hour period. The nature of the project in conjunction with the site itself required not only specialty craftsmanship but innovative solutions to effectively meet the needs of the client.
