Buckhead restaurant will reopen April 9; new Rocky’s location slated to open in May

Buckhead Mountain Grill restaurant in Jeffersonville is slated to re-open Monday, April 9, following a Dec. 4 fire that caused significant damage to the building.

Co-owner Wes Johnson initially predicted the restaurant would be closed for a matter of weeks.

He said fire and water damage to the building were “relatively manageable,” but cleaning up the smoke damage was a more involved process than he anticipated.

December’s fire was confined to the attic space above the ceiling. Johnson did not know the exact cause of the fire, but he said it was related to an electrical problem on the roof area outside of the building.

A number of items needed to be replaced in the building because they had been ruined by smoke or would have been too costly to rid of the smoke smell, Johnson said.

The restaurant used the closure as an opportunity to make changes to equipment and décor.
