Project Overview

Kelley Construction was awarded this civil work at the American Electric Power (AEP) Southwestern Electric Power Company, John W. Turk Jr. Plant in Fulton, AR as part of a coal pile runoff pond capacity addition. This project is an excellent example of Kelley Construction’s project management acumen and civil construction expertise.

To facilitate the logistically sensitive scope, Kelley Construction installed a dam in an existing ditch to reroute water around the coal pile and construction area. The Kelley Construction team performed site grading for the proposed area, constructed two 137’ diameter concrete ring wall tank foundations, installed 38,500 SF of concrete paving, created 33,000 SF of stabilized roadways, and installed a bridge complete with concrete piers and headwalls to support steel decking.
